Staff Heroes Marlene Maldonado - December 8, 2009 Ms. Maldonado is the staff "hero" for December. Her organization skills and quick thinking has saved many meetings over the past month. She is always thinking of students and trying to find ways to help them be successful. She provides information for and attends ARD meetings, 504 meetings, Attendance meetings, and more. She works however late it takes to finish the job and then some. Ms. Maldonado surpasses the requirements for her job and is a friend to all. She goes out of her way to help staff, parents, and even community members. She has never said no to a request to help a student and even works with former students to help them with finishing school or attending college. She is December's hero!
Marisela Allala - November 11, 2009 Marisela Allala is my "hero". As English department chair, she is doing an outstanding job handling the situation of an absent teacher. She is doing her job and also helping the other teacher who is not able to be in school. She is the Senior Class Sponsor and handles all that goes with that demanding job too. Remember that she spent the night at the bonfire, helped decorate the senior building, helped with other homecoming activities, and helps every week with decorations for the seniors.
On top of that, last week when I hesitantly asked her to cover my class during her conference so that I could go to a dentist appointment, she said yes right away without any reservations. I knew she was busy and I didn't want to ask her, but I did and was greatful for her assistance. She exemplifies what a great teacher is. So Marisela is definitely my "hero" and I'm sure a hero for her students!
Sincerely,
Linda Patterson Chemistry/AVID Teacher
