Congratulations to a wonderful year for the

UIL Academics team!

Congratulations to the One Act Play and UIL Academic Teams who competed at the district meet this week. In the One Act Play, Margaret Vargus and Tiphanie Contreras won a medal for the All Star Cast. Elizabeth Vasquez won Honorable Mention All Star Cast. Competing in Prose, Tiphanie Contreras won third place and will be advancing to Regionals. Alyssa Quiles placed 5th in Prose and 6th in Newswriting. Jeremy Acosta won 5th place in Informative Speaking. Elizabeth Vasquez placed 2nd in the Physics section of the Science test and Cody Thomas placed 3rd in Physics. The UIL Coaches and One Act Play director would like to thank all the students who participated in UIL competition.

Good luck to Tiphanie as she competes and represents Cotulla High School at the Regional meet in April.

Association 2013 Texas Technology Student Association REGIONAL COMPETITION MARCH 22-23, 2013 @ REAGAN HIGH SCHOOL. The Cotulla Chapter received many awards and all of the projects are State Qualifiers. The State Contest will be held April 11-13 in Waco, Texas. The Sponsor is Mary Mendietta.

This coming school year will be exciting, eventful and rewarding. Our staff has been hard at work preparing for the students and we have expectations of great things.

	CHS Calendar Events

After School Tutoring

Please attend after school tutoring for all of your classes. There are English, Math, Science, and Social Studies after school tutorials available.

Attention Seniors This information is for all Seniors! The Department of Health in Pearsall will be on campus on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 9:30 am – 11:30 am for Seniors entering college in the Fall 2013. The TdaP vaccine will be available for those who do not have the Pertussis vaccine. Seniors who have Medicaid or NO insurance can take advantage of this opportunity. If the Seniors have Medicaid, there will be no charge and those without no insurance, there will be a $10.00 charge total, whether it be one or more vaccinations. Seniors will need a copy of their immunization history. If the Senior is under the age of 18 years, they will need a guardian or parent with them. Scholarships

Seniors, please visit the hallway in the office for a list of scholarships. You should be working on scholarship applications on a daily basis. The more scholarship money you are granted, the less you have to pay for college! Also, please create an account with the San Antonio Area Foundation to submit your scholarship application for the: Anna, Ephraim, and Block Scholarship due February 13th. Visit www.safdn.org.

The Ben and Ida Alexander Scholarship can also be found on the website and the application is due March 1st.

The Farm Bureau Mitchell Memorial, Mitchell Honorary, and Young Farmer & Rancher Scholarship, are all due March 18th for Farm Bureau members.

The La Salle County Fair Association scholarship is due March 25th.

The STARS or South Texas Academic Rising Scholarship is due March 30th.

OPEN HOUSE

The CISD Spring Open House will be on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 5:30 pm in the Cafetorium. Parents will be able to pick up the 4th six weeks report cards and schedule conferences with teachers.

Please join us Thursday evening at the Cotulla High School Cafetorium, from 5:30-6:00 PM, as we showcase Cotulla High School Freshman Chaparette, Alezai Garcia. She will debut the two competition solo routines that she perform at O' Conner High School in San Antonio, Texas this Friday, March 1st. Alezai is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Garcia. Again, please come out and join us to show Alezai and the Chaparettes your support. College visit for Seniors on March 2nd for UT Open House

Nancy Saucedo from Gear Up is working on the logistics to take 45 Seniors and 5 Chaperones in a Charter bus to the University of Texas at Austin Open House on Saturday, March 2, 2013.

Departure time is 6:00 am from Cotulla High School.

Seniors will be encouraged to sign up with Marisela Allala and permission slips will be available on Monday.
