CHS Students Attend Teen Leadership Summit

A number of Cotulla High School Sophomores participated in the Teen Leadership Summit at the Educational Service Center Region 20 in San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday, December 2, 2009.  The event was hosted by the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communitites and the message was for our youth to "FOCUS: Great Leaders Have It."  The Cotulla High School Sophomores began their morning at 9 am with high energy dancing to their favorite music and a motivational speaker, Aric Bostwick, who influenced the students to be a HERO. 

Over 500 high school students participated in morning Break-Out Sessions.  The Cotulla High School Sophomores attended Fusion: Team Building Activities with communication, trust, and problem solving, and Teen Truth: Bullying.  The students were hosted to a luncheon and were provided information on the Rally Against Tobacco or R.A.T. Video Competition.  The competition entry is a video promoting an anti-tobacco commercial.  The winners will receive a all-expense paid trip to Fiesta Texas and additional prizes such as IPod shuffles, iTunes cards, Fiesta Texas Season Passes, and a digital camera for each team member!  The Fiesta Texas Trip is scheduled for May 14, 2010 from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Cotulla High School Sophomores will work on a video to win the competition. Good Luck.

The afternoon break-out sessions involved Teen Truth   LIVE-Drugs, Alcohol and Binge Drinking, and The Game of Life.  The students were treated to afternoon snacks sponsored by the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities.  The Teen Leadership Conference ended with all of the students pledging to be a HERO at school and in their community.
