Welcome to a great year of Chemistry !!

This course is the study of the structure and properties of matter.  It will help you learn about atoms, molecules, elements, and compounds and how they interact.  We will be following TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) requirements to help prepare you for the TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) Science test that you will be taking towards the end of the school year.  It is a test that you must pass in order to graduate!!  With my help and of course, your commitment to this class, I hope you will have a very successful and pleasant school year!!

AP CHEMISTRY

Course Description: This course is a college level Chemistry course.  Students are expected to have already taken a regular high school Chemistry class plus at least Algebra II.  Students will have the opportunity to take an Advanced Placement exam at the end of the year to determine whether they could receive college credit.  Students will be required to keep a lab notebook. Besides the two, 49 minute class periods per day, students are expected to put in 3-5 extra hours per week studying or finishing lab work.
