Mrs. Marlene Maldonado

Cotulla ISD would like to congratulate CHS Counselor, Mrs. Marlene Maldonado for being selected by the National Hispanic Institute as Counselor of the Year! She will receive her award on November 18th in San Marcos, TX during NHI’s Celebración





There will be Underclassmen and Senior Formal Retakes on Friday, November 17, 2017.  You must sign up with Mrs. Oster in Room C-3 to be given an appointment time.  Deadline to sign up is Wednesday, November 15.



The Thanksgiving Holidays will begin on Monday, November 20 – Friday, November 24, 2017.  CHS wishes all of the Faculty, Staff, and Student Body a Thanksgiving filled with peace, love, and laughter.  May we all count our blessings each and everyday.  Classes will resume on Monday, November 27, 2017. 



Herff Jones will meet with Juniors on Tuesday, November 28th at 10:00 am to provide Class of 2019 Ring Order Packets. 

Herff Jones Representatives will meet with Seniors on Tuesday, November 28th at 10:50 am to provide Class of 2018 Cap and Gown and Commencement Announcement Packets. 

All Class Ring and Cap and Gown ordering will be held on Tuesday, December 12th from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm in the Cafetorium.




CHS students who have not passed the STAAR Retest will test on the following dates:

  • English I EOC Retest on Monday, December 4th
  • US History EOC Retest on Monday, December 4th
  • Algebra I EOC Retest on Tuesday, December 5th
  • English II EOC Retest on Wednesday, December 6th
  • Biology EOC Retest on Wednesday, December 6th


The Faculty will play against the students on Thursday, November 16, 2017 in the CHS Gymnasium.  



The next SAT will be held at Cotulla High School on Saturday, December 2nd at 7:45 am in the CHS Cafetorium.  You must have your SAT ticket and picture ID.





The next ACT test is scheduled for Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 7:45 am in the CHS Cafetorium. You must have your ACT ticket and picture ID.  www.act.org



It is time to apply to college!  Seniors can visit the www.applytexas.org website, create an account, and obtain a username and password.

Seniors who have received an ACT or SAT fee waiver their Junior or Senior year are eligible to receive 5 application fee waivers from the counseling center. 

Seniors who need to have their high school transcripts sent to colleges and universities need to fill out a transcript request form in the counseling center. 

Transcripts will be mailed out every Tuesday of the week.


October 1st is the first day that Seniors can begin their Free Application for Federal Student Aid application.  The FAFSA application is what colleges and universities use to see how much grant and loan money a student is eligible for. 


Seniors need to create a FSA ID for the student and one parent.  Students will need their parent’s 2016 Income tax forms to complete the FAFSA.  Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov for the FAFSA application and www.FSAID.ed.gov for the FSA ID website. 

There are three types of Financial Student Aid

GRANTS are financial aid that students do not have to repay.

LOANS are borrowed money that students must repay with interest.

WORK-STUDY lets students work and earn money to help pay for school.
