The essay topics for Apply Texas are listed below: 

  • Essay A: Describe a setting in which you have collaborated or interacted with people whose experiences and/or beliefs differ from yours. Address your initial feelings, and how those feelings were or were not changed by this experience.
  • Essay B: Describe a circumstance, obstacle or conflict in your life, and the skills and resources you used to resolve it. Did it change you? If so, how?
  • Essay C: Considering your lifetime goals, discuss how your current and future academic and extra-curricular activities might help you achieve your goals.

The essays should be at least 1 page long.  Save your essays on a USB and then you can copy and paste them to your application. Please make sure that you meet the application deadlines.  If you received an ACT or SAT fee waiver, then you are eligible to receive ACT or SAT application fee waivers.  Just come by Mrs. Maldonado's office. Gates Millenium Scholarship is due January 14th.  Visit http://ttps://scholarships.uncf.org/Program/Details/2bfd8f53-40aa-4705-9f8b-d92d972e59df for the online application. Gates Millennium Scholarship – eligible applicants African American, American Indian/Alaska native, Asian Pacific or Hispanic American, US citizen or legal permanent resident, GPA of 3.0 on an unweighted 4.0 scale, and demonstrate community service.

Questbridge College Match - Offers an opportunity for academically outstanding low-income high school seniors to admission and full four year scholarships.

Horatio Alger Scholarship - enrollment full time as a high school senior, with plans to enter college no later than the fall following graduation; a strong commitment to pursuing and completing a bachelor's degree at an accredited institution located in the United States; critical financial need ($50,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is preferred, if higher explanation must be provided); involvement in co-curricular and community activities; demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and a United States Citizenship.

Prudential Spirit of Community Award - Open to students enrolled in grades 5-12.

Dr Pepper Tuition Scholarship - Create a sixy second video telling us how you will make an impact on society for your chance to win a college tuition from Dr. Pepper.  Must be a U.S.legal resident and must be 18 years old.

University of Texas at Austin - Students who are interested in attending UT-Austin must apply for admissions and submit a scholarship application.  Scholarship application is available via the Apply Texas Application at www.applytexas.org/  

University of Texas-Pan American, Excellence AwardMost are available to all majors with a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5 and full-time enrollment status

  • Available to Undergraduate and Graduate students
  • Most require US citizenship or legal permanent resident status. However, International students are still encouraged to apply.
  • Awards vary depending on funds. 
  • Recipients are selected on a competitive basis.
  • Scholarships are not automatically renewable; students must re-apply each year
  • Priority is given to students who have not received an institutional scholarship

Texas A&M University Music Scholarship - Music Scholarships are based upon talent displayed through a music scholarship audition.  Audition at A&M Kingsville campus by contacting the Music Department.

Terry Foundation Scholarship - The Terry Foundation has been extended to 8 universities, Texas State, Texas A&M College Station, UT Austin, University of Houston, University of Texas San Antonio, Texas Tech University, University of Texas - Dallas, and University of Texas North Texas - Denton.

Al's Formal Wear - This year two $1,00 college scholarships will be offered.  Entries are accepted October 15, 2014 through May 31, 2015.
