The Class of 2019 Ring Ceremony will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 6:30 pm in the Cafetorium.  Juniors interested in participating will need to sign up with Mrs. Maldonado.

 

The Top 20 Cotulla High School Class of 2018 Graduates will take a picture for the Billboard on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 10:00 am.  Please make sure to wear a college shirt for the picture.

Seniors please login to your college accounts and make sure that you not missing anything for higher education. Make sure your FAFSA application has been submitted, sign your housing contracts, check your meal plans, sign up for Freshman orientation, take your TSI tests, and last but not least, enjoy the last three months at Cotulla High School.

National Honor Society will assist the Wintergarden Women’s Shelter with the Pinwheels for Child Abuse Prevention on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 9:30 am in front of the La Salle County Courthouse.

Community Service

An opportunity to acquire community service hours is volunteering you time to help students at Ramirez Burks Elementary.  The 4th and 5th grade teachers offer after school tutorials on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.  Please volunteer your time to help the students at RBE.  In addition, we are looking for a few Seniors to be part of a mentoring program.   Please see Mrs. Maldonado to sign up for the Community Service project and/or Mentoring program.

The Texas Success Initiative test is scheduled for April 19, 2018 at 8:00 am in Building E Computer Lab.  Students who are on the list to test will need the following:

SWTJC ID Number (must have applied to SWTJC), Pre-Certification test, and a Picture identification card.  The TSI will cover Writing, Reading, and Math.

April 2018

The South Texas Press Association Scholarship is for a high school graduating student who is pursuing a career in newspaper journalism.  The scholarship application (pdf) is available at the bottom of the webpage.   The deadline is April 6, 2018.

 

The High School Hunters Appreciation Scholarship is available for high school students who are ranked in the upper 33% of their class and have at least a 2.5 GPA.  The application is due April 13, 2018.

Please note that live interviews will be held on April 17, 2018 at the Chamber office at 4:00 pm and will be required for you to attend in order for you to be considered for the scholarship.  Applications are available for download from the CHS website (bottom of the webpage). 

 

The La Salle County Fair Association Scholarship is available for a High School Senior who has participated in the Fair for 4 years between grades 9 and 12.    The Senior must be ranked in the Top 25 percentile of the Class of 2018.  The application is available to be downloaded on the CHs webpage.  The deadline is April 16, 2018.

 

The Molly Gerold Scholarship Sponsored by the Texas School Counselor Association is available to one graduating Senior whose Counselor is a TSCA Member.  Please submit your application to Mrs. Maldonado by April 1, 2018.  The application must be postmarked by April 15, 2018.  The application is available at the bottom of the CHS webpage. 

 

The MASBA (Mexican American School Boards Association) Scholarship is due April 23, 2018 and is available at https://masbatx.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/2018-MASBA-scholarship-application.pdf

 

The LaSalle County Farm Bureau Scholarship is available to a high school Senior who will be planning to attend college/trade school.  The Senior must be ranked in the top 50% of the graduating class.  The applicant must be the son/daughter of a LaSalle County Farm Bureau Member.  The application is available on the CHS webpage or in the Counseling Center.  The deadline is April 24, 2018.

 

The Stewart Kimble Martin Memorial Scholarship is available for graduating Seniors.  Applicants must submit a list of community service projects, high school transcript, and a letter of acceptance to a university/college.  The deadline to the Counseling Center is April 25, 2018.  The application can be downloaded from the Cotulla High School webpage.

 

The Mary Roese Martin Scholarship is available for graduating Seniors.  Applicants must have an 85% GPA or better, a high school transcript, and a letter of admittance to Texas Woman’s University.  The deadline to the Counseling Center is April 25, 2018.  The application can be downloaded from the Cotulla High School webpage.

The Specialized Carriers and Rigging Foundation Scholarship is available for High School Seniors who are interested in vocational school, technical school, welding, crane operator, or truck driving.  The application deadline is April 30, 2018.  Visit www.scr-foundation.org

 

May 2018

The Wintergarden API Scholarship is due May 1, 2018.  The scholarship application is available to be downloaded on the CHS webpage.

 

The Cotulla Garden Club Scholarship is available for graduating Seniors who plan to attend a 2 or 4 college and major/minor in a related field of agriculture.  The deadline is May 1, 2018 by 4:30 pm to Patsy Leigh at Cotulla Main Street Office.  Late applications are not accepted.  The application is available on the CHS webpage.

 

The Carlos Sr. and Clarisa G. Pena Memorial Scholarship by 3C-C4 Family LLC is for graduating Seniors who intend to major in Education or Agriculture.  The deadline for the scholarship is May 4, 2018.  The application is available to be downloaded at the bottom of the Cotulla High School webpage.

 

The Woman’s Club of Cotulla Scholarship deadline is May 4, 2018.  The application is available at the bottom of the CHS webpage.

 

The Texas Interscholastic League Foundation Scholarship for state Qualifiers in UIL Academic Contests is due May 11, 2018.  Online applications can be found at www.tilfoundation.org

 

The Joshua Rios Memorial Scholarship application is available for graduating Seniors.  The deadline for the application is May 11, 2018 and can be downloaded from the CHS webpage.  All scholarship recipients will need to submit a copy of their college course schedule to the CISD finance office. 

 

The Accuplan Scholarship is available to graduating Seniors who will be enrolled in a higher education institution for the Fall 2018.  The application process includes making a 30 second video explaining what they would like to do in the future once they have retired, and what are some things that they can be doing now and in the future to be ready for retirement.  The deadline is May 31, 2018.  Visit https://www.accuplan.net/scholarship-promo.htm
