Reading: April-May

Students will finish “Esperanza Rising” by Pam Munoz

Students will continue to review for STAAR Reading by practicing new vocabulary using context clues, inferencing, plot element and figurative language.

PBL Driving Question: How can we, as community members, be leaders in showing others that we appreciate them. 

Students will focus on volunteer work around the community.

Upcoming Projects: Students will begin the novel: “Boy in Striped Pajamas”. Driving Question: How can I, as a student at RBE, stand against bullying?

Students will focus on themes, figurative language, inference,  and character traits. Students will discuss cause and effects, sequence of events and plot elements. Students will gain an understanding of making right or wrong choices and their consequences. Student’s will understand the importance of text graphic features and environmental print. They will discuss important facts and details. 

PBL: Students will design a “Buddy Bench”. Buddy Bench will be placed on the playground. Students will promote the Buddy Bench system and explain how it works. Students will design invitations for ribbon cutting  ceremony.
